Power and Leadership
How did Ancient Egypt get united?
There was a king called, King Narmer. He united Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt and developed Memphis as their capitol. There were many little city’s that united into empires of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt that got united into what we know as Ancient Egypt. Leader ship affected the uniting of Ancient Egypt by having King Narmer who brought the two parts of Egypt together and developed Memphis as their capitol. They call him "Menes" which means founder, because of how he founded Ancient Egypt.
How was Ancient Egypt governed?
Their government was based on two factors. The pharaoh and agriculture. The highest people took direct orders from the pharaoh and agriculture was the foundation of the Egyptian government. Religion served with government, because the pharaoh would collect tribute, or taxes from the Egyptians and say that those treasures will be used in the god's shrines, and used to honor the gods. For example every month the people have to pay a small tribute for Isis, so she'll keep being there with them.
How did Ancient Egyptian rulers affect trade, business and conflict?
Ancient Egyptian rulers affected trade by sending representatives to go across water on boats and bring items with them, while the King/Queen tells them what to get from the other traders and they bring their new items back to Egypt. They affected business by having their scribes have sons, so later the scribe’s children could go to the special scribe training and become a scribe, it was very rare for a person that didn't have a scribe as a father to become one. The pharaoh also assigned jobs to people like if it got very hot he assigned people to create clothes that reflects the heat so no one gets too hot, and that person has a job that he/she will later get paid for doing. Ancient Egyptian rulers affected conflict by getting his fighters ready and organizing when and where they're attacking. The ruler also decides if to attack other places if they annoy them, or feel threatening to them.
What are the advantages, and disadvantages of power?
The advantages of power were that if you deeply feel a good way to fix conflict, or make your land a better place, you can easily go ahead with the idea, and organize the people you rule over to do things to help out. For example say you're the Ancient Egyptian ruler and you think it's best to collect more tribute from the farmers, and less from the scribes, you could make that happen easily by just announcing the new rule change, and it'll happen because everyone must obey you. Speaking of obeying, everyone will obey you and you have the power to change or add on to things and if someone challenges you or disagrees with you could throw them into prison, give them a chance to right their wrongs or just execute them. But some disadvantages are that if you think something is right, and a large group of people think your choice is wrong, they could rise up against you and defeat you, making you look silly and you won't have the respect you need to be the ruler anymore and you might get thrown out of your place. For example, Obama says not to fight ISIS and just let them go away or cool down, but Donald Trump says to fight ISIS and defeat them while we still can and they aren't stronger yet. If Donald Trump becomes president and a large group of people don't like the idea of fighting ISIS they could try to overthrow him and prove him wrong, and if they manage to prove his idea wrong, he won't be taken seriously anymore and lots of people would protest against him leading Americas government corrupted, and a new president might have to be chosen just to fix that damage. Another way of others not liking your decisions if you have power is when Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln got executed because someone didn't like their choices or what they have done, so with all that power they had the ability to change things that someone didn't like, so they thought if that person in power is dead, everything will go back to normal the way they like it.
Pharoah Interview
Me
king tut
So, King Tut, what are/were your biggest accomplishments?
Awesome! What are you known for?
How about your personal life, what do you like?
Are there any mysteries surrounding your reign?
Have you made any important decisions?
Okay, what impact did you have on your empire?
Thank you! That's all I need from you and good luck on the death thing!
Oh no! that would break the fabric of time! Best to keep it secret!
I'd say my biggest accomplishments are that I moved the capitol to Memphis, I changed our religion back to our god Ra, and I built more statues, and I embelished our temples with pictures of our gods.
I think I'll be known for being the youngest pharoah, and fixing our religion back to normal.
You know, I dont really enjoy stuff like politics so mostly I do fun stuff like swimming, and playing with the children of Egypt. Of course since i can't make the important decisions my self my mother helps me so I'm not a bad pharoah and don't follow in my father's footsteps, because he did a bad job with ruling Egypt.
Yes, my death is going to be a mystery. There will be many ideas of how I died like, falling out of a chariot, or getting suffocated by sand.
Yes, my most important decision would probably be how I moved our capitol to Memphis, and another important decision I made was changing our religion back to our god Ra.
Well my empire respects me even though im very young, because they appreciate how I moved our capitol back to Memphis and changed our religion back to normal after my father ruined it.
Thanks to you too! By the way do you want to know how I'm going to die?
Okay good luck on your project!
